Participant-Driven:
The schedule is built by the participants who propose in short explanations a topic which can be presentations, workshops, discussions or even wishes or questions. After that a simple vote among the attendees decides about which topic will be dealt with.
Open & Participatory:
Everyone is encouraged to contribute, not just speak but also support other participants, join talks or discussions or summarize or document sessions, with an emphasis on „give and take“.
User-Generated Content:
Content emerges from the group’s collective expertise and interests, making it highly relevant to those present.
Informal & Flexible:
It ditches traditional conference structures, allowing for dynamic, often parallel, discussions in various formats usually 45-minute sessions. But it can be any other form if the participants of this session agree on this.
Digital Integration:
Often uses online tools for session planning, voting, and live documentation (e.g., Etherpads, Social Media).
„Unconference“ Style:
Contrasts with traditional events where speakers and topics are fixed in advance by organizers.
